Three things come through the connection, and knowing them explains most of what the assistant does afterwards. Tools A tool is an action the assistant can take on the platform: create a page, list the planner tasks in a datasphere, start a research run, read a dataset. A curated core of about forty tools is listed directly so the assistant sees them immediately. Behind that core sits the full catalogue of over three hundred tools, which the assistant reaches with two helpers, search_tools and call_tool . You do not have to know any of their names. Describing what you want in plain language is enough; the assistant chooses the tool. Skills A skill is a set of working instructions for one area of the platform: pages, presentations, surveys, newsletters, courses, spec-driven development and so on. There are fifty-six of them, and each is served as a prompt, so it appears in the assistant's slash or @ menu, and as a readable resource at dataspheres://skills/<name> . Using a skill before working in its area gives the assistant the same house rules a Dataspheres engineer follows, which is the difference between a page that looks right and one that has to be redone. Your context The first tool the assistant calls is get_context . It returns who you are, the dataspheres you belong to with your role in each, and each datasphere's purpose and standing instructions. The assistant is told to treat that purpose and those instructions as the owner's brief for the space, so a datasphere set up for a particular project, voice or audience carries that into every conversation without you repeating it. One number worth keeping in mind if you use VS Code: it allows at most 128 tools across every connected server. Dataspheres stays well under that limit by listing only the core set and reaching the rest through search, so adding other servers alongside it is fine.
